Resolutions #3 – Sharon Geiger - Jan. 27, 2017

Happy New Year! There is still a lot of snow here in Salmon Arm but hopefully spring is just around the corner.

I have received three resolutions titles from the Vancouver diocese. Thank you very much. I hope that there are more from the other dioceses as well. If there are, please make sure to send the titles to me by January 31. I am looking forward to hearing about your process.

Remember that your annual report forms are due to me by February 15.

Letter writing is so important as part of the action plan of resolutions. Lent will soon be upon us and I would like to keep up a suggestion that my predecessor had, and that was to encourage members to write a letter every week during lent supporting our CWL resolutions..

On the National website the following was released:

"Progress made re:

Resolution 2015.03- Banning the Use of Neonicotinoid Pesticides

The federal government has heard the voice of League members.

In addition to Vancouver and Montreal city bylaws in place that prevent the use of neonicotinoid pesticides, Health Canada has also proposed a ban on the harmful pesticides"

I know that Bell "Let's Talk" day has passed but just a reminder about:

Resolution 2015.01- Increased Early Access and Intervention to Children and  Youth Mental Health Services.

End the stigma related to mental illness. On the Bell Let's Talk website there are  four items that should help us do this and they are Language matters, Educate  yourself, Be Kind Listen and Ask and Talk about it.

You can find these resolutions as well as the 2016 resolutions on the national website www.cwl.ca

Let us be inspired by the Spirit to write resolutions and letters to government as women responding to God's call with courage.

May our Lady of Good Counsel guide with all the work that you do for the League.

God bless you.
