The Catholic Women’s League of Canada BC & Yukon Provincial Council National theme: One Heart, One Voice, One Mission Provincial theme: Joyfully Serving the Lord

2014 winner of the $500.00 Art and Culture Award sponsored by the CWL BC & Yukon Life Members. Nicholas is from White Rock BC.  His grandmother and guardian is Ann Thibault and she is a CWL  member in good standing at Star of the Sea Council.  He has attended Catholic schools for 13 years, eight years at Star of the Sea and 5 years at Vancouver College.  He has been accepted by three colleges and soon his task will be to discern which one he will choose. Those colleges being Langara College, Kwantlen Polytechnic University in Surrey and Corpus Christi college at UBC.  His favorite subjects at school are Art and Law.  When he was three they had an Australian houseguest who taught him to draw and he has been drawing ever since.  He would like to incorporate his talent into a career either in drafting and architecture or in designing men’s fashions.  He says he has many ideas to turn his talent into a business and career. He volunteers in various events at his school as well as he is involved with the youth.  In the community he  volunteers for the BC Cancer Foundation, Crescent Beach Triathlon among other events as well.  He also volunteers at the Star of the Sea Church’s King’s Banquet Soup Kitchen.  He is also has been very involved in sports  throughout his 18 years.  The list goes on.  Here is a quote from Nicholas..

“I am applying for this bursary, as I would like to be able to pay my own way through college and university.  My grandmother (guardian) has supported my three sisters and himself for 15 years and it is time for me to fend for myself, as my sisters are doing.” (end quote).
