On April 22nd and 23rd, Kitimat hosted the Catholic Women’s League Prince George Diocesan Convention. Women throughout the northwest, from Kitimat, Terrace, Prince Rupert, Smithers, Vanderhoof, Fraser Lake, Prince George, Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, and Fort St. John, came to pray, to share their stories and events, to vote on changes to the CWL’s Constitution and Bylaws, and to vote for a new diocesan executive. And of course, to share delicious food, lots of laughs and to catch up with each other.

The convention was a ‘hybrid convention’, which consisted of in-person attendance as well as Zoom attendance, as some of the members still felt uncertain about travelling and attending larger gatherings with COVID numbers still going up in some areas. There were 52 in attendance, including Father Pier Pandolfo, Father Babji Merugu, Father James Dhiraviam and Father Terry Brock.

The event was held at the Snowflake Senior’s Centre, beginning with a Friday night Meet and Greet Wine and Cheese Social, followed by the business and reporting session on Saturday. A lovely banquet followed by Mass and the installation of the new diocesan executive was held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday evening. After over two years of not being able to gather, it was such a blessing to come together, see each other and catch up, even if some was over Zoom.
