Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe for Children Who Died at Residential Schools
This novena is to be said at 2:15 every day for 9 days, in remembrance of the 215 children who died at Kamloops Residential School through illness or neglect and were buried in unmarked graves.
Day 1
Let us begin, In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Mystical Rose, you came in the form of an indigenous woman, to offer faith, hope and consolation to the oppressed native peoples of North America.
Mother Mary, you came to us carrying the child Jesus within your body, nurturing, and caring for Him. You care for all of us as your own children. We ask your intercession for the loss of these little ones in the residential schools.
We acknowledge the culpability of our Government and our Church, and we beg pardon for our part in creating a society that enabled this tragedy. We resolve to work towards a better world where a callous disregard for the lives of indigenous children is never allowed to happen again.
Amen
Reflection
Today we pray for all the children who lost their lives in the residential schools. Those who lay for many years, unmarked but not un-mourned. We cry to you, Our Lady of Guadalupe, and ask your intercession for their eternal rest and peace. Carry them to the throne of your Son, the Eternal King of Heaven.
Our Father
Hail Mary
Glory Be
