During this beautiful season of Advent, as we await the coming of the Christmas season, a season full of hope, joy and love, I have reflected on these two quotes from very wise leaders:
“The Lord is coming, always coming. When you have ears to hear and eyes to see, you will recognize Him at any moment of your life. Life is Advent: Life is recognizing the coming of the Lord.” Henri Nouwen
“Advent increases our hope, a hope which does not disappoint.
The Lord never lets us down.” Pope Francis
I am certain that many parishes have completed the annual reports including the report for Secretary. These reports are so important in order that a sense of all accomplishments and challenges are completely understood. I hope that if parishes are completing reports in long hand, then remember to send them into National office by December 15th and if the reports are being completed on-line, then parishes have until January 15th to complete them. In my parish, we have completed the reports by December 15th, for a number of years, even when they were being done manually, since it is sometimes difficult to return to do them in the New Year. Diocesan Secretaries, please remember that the Diocesan Annual reports are due to me by February 15th by email to firstname.lastname@example.org Thank you.
In some parishes, elections were held in the latter part of this year or will be held in early 2020. Please remember to ask your parish secretaries for a copy of the new parish register by the middle of February. Then please update your diocesan comprehensive registers and remember to send me a copy before the end of February. This is to ensure that I can complete the sending out of the provincial convention package to the appropriate parish presidents in a timely fashion (that is by March 15th as is my mandate). Last year I was still receiving some ‘new’ parish registers at the end of May. Thank you for taking care of this.
As stated above, it is requested that these comprehensive registers be sent on time please, so that the member who currently holds the position of parish president is ensured to receive the provincial convention package.
I know that there is some time still before the provincial convention takes place. I wanted to let you know that at the October midterm, the provincial executive reviewed the new credential forms which I created, and that had mentioned before. The new credentials will be done on regular paper, in different colors depending on the position that is held (e.g. Voting Delegate, Accredited Delegate, Life Member etc.). I have done this to cut down cost and to facilitate sending them out in case replacement credentials need to be sent out for certain reasons. Last year, some mistakes occurred before convention 2019, and I had to send out new credentials.
How are you doing with the National theme of Care for our Common Home?
I realize that the national focus is on water and I hope that we are taking steps to conserve as much as we can. I am also interested in any tips that you may have in order to reduce the amount of paper used in our day to day lives: Here are some to start you off.
• Do you print on both sides to save paper?
• Do you always proof and preview as much as you can on the computer?
• Do you store as much as possible electronically?
• Do you reuse scrap paper?
• Have you unsubscribed to junk mail?
• Do you communicate through emails as much as possible?
• Do you always recycle?
• Do you use paper from your recycling bin when printing something that may not be the final document but which you may need in hard copy in order to edit? I know I sometimes miss little mistakes when I try to edit just on the computer.
Do you have any others to offer?
I wish for you: patience as we await the Lord’s coming; hope and happiness during this beautiful Christmas season and a New Year full of joy and renewed energy as we work for God and Canada.
Ciao for now and God bless,
