Special guest speaker, national CWL president, Fran Lucas presented on her theme, Catholic and Living It! She encouraged everyone to think about reaching out to develop more personal connections with other faith communities. Using a quote from St. Vincent referencing few words and many deeds, and let them be done well, Fran invited everyone to think of concrete actions to take. She gave her own example of a working bee with a family from the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Edmonton to make 200 blue and yellow ribbon pins in support of Ukraine. Fran also held a Q&A with members on various topics including the decline in membership. She encouraged each member to invite at least one other woman to join the CWL.

Ann Devlin, chairperson of legislation at Our Lady of the Rosary in Victoria, presented her draft resolution, End Coercive Foreign Aid Now. Approved by the members, this resolution will now be presented at the BC & Yukon provincial AMM to be held June 17-18.

Door prizes were awarded and the winners of the gift baskets, created by Debbie Doyle of St. Peter’s CWL, were announced. Laurel thanked the host councils’ presidents, Marta Wright of St. Peter’s and Nora Loftus of Holy Trinity and presented them with bouquets.
