On November 1st, the Feast of All Saints, the ladies from Holy Cross Parish in Creston, were invited to a Rosary Tea hosted by Flavia, Dshamilja and Alexandra, the co-chairs of our CWL Service Committee. There were holy cards depicting various saints on the tables, for guests to keep, and the tables were beautifully decorated with scattered rose petals and fall leaves. A special table was set up honouring Mary, complete with statue, rosary, and fresh roses.
The girls led us in the rosary, each decade being prayed in a different language. We started in English, then we moved on to German, Spanish, Tamil, and Afrikaans. Guests had been asked to bring their favourite tea cup and rosary, for the event. So both before and after praying the rosary, there was time to enjoy some wonderful sweet and savoury treats that the girls had provided, as well as to engage in some lovely conversation amongst friends. It was truly a joyous and prayerful gathering characteristic of that “culture of encounter” of which Pope Francis had so often spoken.
